This young lady reached out to me asking for photographs to capture her journey in one photo for completing college to become a history teacher.

Teachers in this country are undervalued and underpaid. History for me growing up didn't mean a whole lot, but looking back now I completely understand the value in it. To know where you're going, you have to know where you came from.

When I look at this photograph, I see excellence, I see power, I see the next generation of leaders who are going to teach our kids. I made a quote for this picture and it says “Empower the future with their history. Sabotage them with silence.“ Teach your kids at home their history.
